The Outreach Coordinators have done a phenomenal job this year. Located in Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois, they have completed over 200 events across the Midwest and reached over 20,000 people and counting! An outstanding team sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America, Cargill, and for a short time, ADM. These college students take time out of their busy schedules to offer farm safety education to kids in their home state. We believe that an engaging presentation is a great way to teach young folks about important things such as animal safety and the dangers at harvest time just to name a few topics.
Our wide range of education materials available to our Outreach Coordinators, prepares them for these presentations and speaking engagements and helps others learn what safety precautions should be taken when you are on the farm.
This year we had two young ladies that went above and beyond their call of duty. With a program laid out with specific goals and benchmarks, these ladies soared past each one! We would like to give a great big THANK YOU to Morgan Schafbuch from Iowa and Meghan Bennett in Ohio! Both Morgan and Meghan exceeded their goals and requirements and really took farm safety to the next level.
Morgan – When Morgan wasn’t busy taking classes at Iowa State University this past year or participating in her collegiate Block and Bridle club she was out giving farm safety presentations at county fairs, schools, 4-H club meetings, and at FFA functions. Originally from Victor, Iowa, Morgan traveled the state of Iowa teaching kids about the dangers of being on the farm and how important it is to stay safe. Morgan participated in 34 different events and reached almost 3,000 people with the message of farm safety. Morgan was sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America.
Meghan – Hailing from the town of Houston, Meghan attends The Ohio State University and is our Ohio Outreach Coordinator. Meghan found plenty of time to complete 31 different farm safety events when she wasn’t participating in the Saddle and Sirloin club or her Sigma Alpha Sorority at school. Meghan was generously sponsored by Cargill and did a fantastic job teaching the importance of farm safety to over 2,000 people. When there are numerous dangers on the farm, Meghan was good at teaching kids what to do to stay out of harm’s way!
